Large-scale Russian Strikes Eliminate Power Across Kyiv

Power facilities under attack in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have come under increased strikes in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in blackouts in large parts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were injured while inhabitants in the city's east were plunged into darkness and dealt with interruptions to water supplies, according to local authorities.

Simultaneously, a minor was lost their life in a distinct aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, according to area administrators.

Moscow has escalated attacks on electrical systems over recent weeks, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "substantial measures" from international partners to apply pressure on Moscow.

"The necessity is not window dressing but decisive action - from the US, European nations and the Group of Seven - in supplying protection systems and implementing restrictions," he wrote in a online statement.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and more than 30 rockets attacked energy facilities, labeling such assaults as "strategic and deliberate" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and technical staff were striving to fix the damage.

A barrage of missiles hit energy infrastructure and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Multiple people wounded in the strikes on the city have been hospitalized, per statements from municipal representatives.

Regional authorities said the city experienced intense attacks throughout the evening. A seven-year-old child died and three other people were hurt.

The attacks succeed nights of air raids in the territory, sections of which remain under the control of Moscow's military.

All of Ukraine is under warning for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are more difficult to identify.

Government officials told journalists that Russia was purposely seeking to demolish the national power system, with strikes already disrupting fuel infrastructure.

Authorities confirmed technical personnel and government agencies were bracing for more assaults.
