From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in power within the city.
Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of characters who will branch out from the main group to begin their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might look out of place, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the group knows exactly where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose death started the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then cleared his debts and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a nasty place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- Yet, their position as key figures in the influential clan could enable the team access areas they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor vowed a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that control the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is wanted dead by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to travel to the northern region in search of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to assemble the Seekers and Strategists tables.
Fans can look forward to finding out which characters will be where in the season’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
